The Veve Medals are tiny versions of the original larger veve charms, much like a small Catholic saints medal. An extremely detailed veve is in raised relief centered within an oval frame and antiqued to bring out the contrast. These medals are cast in solid sterling silver, bronze, or 14k gold, and are thick and durable. The back side shows a star with Black Water Siren printed within. Other veves are available.
Comes with a sturdy jump ring bail to wear on a chain or add to a charm bracelet. This does not include a chain. Please contact me if you would like a chain to go with it for a small charge.
The medal oval is 13mm by 10mm, or about 3/4″ wide by 1-3/16″ long including bail. A little over 1/16″ or 2mm thick.
Sterling Silver and Bronze charms are in stock and ready to ship immediately. Please be aware that the Bronze and 14K Gold charms are made to order and will generally take 3 to 5 weeks (usually 3 weeks) production time before shipment.
La Sirene, wife of Agwe Tawayo, the supreme lwa of the ocean. La Sirene is feminine, enchanting, sensual. She moves with unerring grace through the water domains of her husband. She carries her trumpet, which she uses to call the faithful to service, seducing us with her siren song, taking our heads under the sea to gain consciousness of the intuitive world.
A powerful feminine deity, sought after for different reasons such as improving one’s magical endeavors, earning riches or great fortune, and finding creative inspiration for music, arts and performances. She possesses lunar qualities of enhancing dream work and intuition. La Sirene can symbolize the power of attraction, and how it can inspire us to be self-driven and determined, though it must be somewhat tamed so that it does not overcome us.
La Sirene is beautiful, but she also very powerful. She can be traced back to ancient tales of mermaids, who were known to attract sailors. It is said that if you fall under her spell, she will steal you away to her underwater kingdom. Here, she will keep you for a time (some stories say seven days, other say seven years). When you return, you are given the ability to perform feats of magic and divination. It’s said those who have spent time in her watery domain return lighter in color, because they have gone beneath the waters.
La Sirene is an important aspect for anyone needing creativity, passion, driving inspiration, as well as enhancing dream works and manifesting dreams both day and night. She represents the ability to nurture and nourish yourself. To replenish your energies and to take time out for yourself. Her ceaseless motion of waves and tides lends you endless energy. This can be a boon, but a burden, for others may see you as one who can perform miracles! If you are hearing the siren call of La Sirene it is to remind you that you are in charge of your own destiny, not the destiny of others. She is inviting you to take the plunge into her cool dark depths, to find the answers within yourself. But that can only be accomplished if you are willing to let go of the mundane world around you and plumb your own inner seas of consciousness and talents. La Sirene invites us to dance with her, in an endless round of ebb and flow, the give and take of life.
La Sirene has a counterpart, called LaBalenn, the whale. This is the dark, intuitive sister who swims below La Sirene’s cool blue domain. LaBalenn is dark only in that she is the deep, deep depths of the world’s oceans – she is our Shadow side, our inner intuition that we so seldom listen to.
